We are delighted to welcome back Mud & Guts to the Bowood Estate.  Experience den building, fire lighting, game playing, rope swinging fun all within an inspiring, learning and educational environment.   Book soon, as this is a popular event.

Mud & Guts has a clear aim to reconnect modern children with the joy of being outside.  Taking fun as the starting point, they provide an exhilarating, educational alternative to days whiled away in front of a screen; immersing children in the natural world with a bespoke experience they will never forget.  

These fun outdoor adventures run for 3 hours either in the morning or afternoon.  Given the nature of this activity, you will need to complete the mandatory Parental/Guardian consent for the child to take part in the activity at the time of booking.  Parental/Guardian consent will be required but children can be left with the fully trained/qualified Activity Instructors of Mud & Guts.  Check out  their website: https://mudandguts.co.uk/about/

General Notes:

• 6 - 10 year olds. 
• Each activity will last for around 3 hours and group size will be limited to 16 children per session (managed by 2 instructors) for safety reasons.
• Parental/Guardian consent will be required in advance, but children may be left with Activity Instructors.
• Advance booking is required, and places are limited.
• Tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and activities will go ahead whatever the weather unless there is a risk to life.
• Located close to the Visitors Car Park/Dedicated Drop Off Point.

'Creepy Critters' returns this Autumn at Bowood, so when you visit us, please book onto this workshop.  A must for Halloween.

Get up close and hands-on with real live animals at 'Creepy Critters', hosted by ZooLab UK.  Meet the likes of Snakes, Giant Snails, Tarantulas and more in this interactive show - the perfect addition to the spooky Halloween Holidays.

These fun 45 minute indoor workshops will give children insights into amazing creatures and their behaviour, including fun facts and the opportunity to hold one of them (if you are brave enough!).

Price £8.00 per child (with free entry into the workshop for one accompanying parent).  

The workshop is NOT included in normal House & Gardens Day Tickets, House & Gardens admission fees apply, a separate Day Ticket will need to be purchased to gain access into the House & Gardens for the workshop.

• Creatures are subject to change during each session due to welfare.
• All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Suitable for well-behaved children from 2 years old and upwards.

NEW FOR 2025!  We are excited to introduce the Big Tree Climb, organised by The Great Big Tree Climbing Company. 

Have an adventure and get closer to nature.  Tree climbing tests balance and co-ordination and children or adults feel a huge sense of achievement when they have completed a climb.  The Great Big Tree Climbing Company is the largest provider of recreational tree climbing in the country and offer a safe and fun way to enjoy trees from a new perspective.  All ages from 6 years old can take part and it is a great family activity.   So why not test your skills and learn the techniques in rope climbing.

Given the nature of this activity, you will need to complete the mandatory Parental/Guardian consent for the child to take part in the activity at the time of booking.  Parental/Guardian consent will be required and children can be left with the fully trained/qualified instructors, for details see their website: https://bigtreeclimbing.co.uk/.  Parents will also need to sign a waiver form if they wish to take part with their child.
