'Emma' by Jane Austen, presented by This is My Theatre
We are delighted to introduce This is My Theatre, who will be bringing 'Emma' by Jane Austen as an Open-Air Theatre production to Bowood House & Gardens.

Celebrate the 250th Anniversary of Jane Austen with This Is My Theatre this Summer with another classic tale of romance, packed with rivalries, regrets and lessons in love. This production is sure to spread joy this Summer!
Ever the matchmaker and never the match? So seems to be the case for Emma Woodhouse… And yet Emma remains more than content to help see that those around her are paired off into advantageous alliances for all concerned. In fact, she fancies herself rather good in the role of matchmaker. But, after an ill-advised union leads to heartbreak and bitterness, can Emma learn the greatest lesson in love? That romance is not something that can be forced and the most propitious matches always make themselves…
Pack your picnic, bring your chairs or blanket, and don't forget to dress for the weather (Jane Austen bonnets and costumes are welcome!).
Show starts at 19:00 including a 15 minute interval and should finish by 20:30.
Gates open from 18:30. Please do not arrive before this as the team will still be preparing the performance area. Please arrive no later than 15 minutes before the performance is due to start.
Please note: Tickets to this event must be purchased in advance, are non-refundable and non-transferable, they do not include access into Bowood House & Gardens during the day. You can purchase a Day Ticket to Bowood House & Gardens online or on the day at admissions. If you have purchased a separate Day Ticket into Bowood House & Gardens, you will need to leave and re-enter at the designated ‘gates open’ time.

- Concession: £16.50 per person (Child 16s and Under and Over 65s)
- Family of 4: £60.00 (2 Adults plus 2 children or 1 Adult plus 3 children)
- Carers: FREE, if full price ticket bought for person with disability
- Under 4's: FREE
- Group of 10+ get a 10% discount (tickets must be booked on one purchase)
Season Ticket Holders 2025: Please order your discounted tickets from the Members Ticket Area, link is sent to the registered email which bought your Season Ticket.
*Please note: There is a booking fee charged by our ticketing system per ticket. The discount off a Group of 10+ is applicable to the number of tickets purchased for Adult and Child only. This does not include any free tickets selected (e.g. Under 4’s or Carers). This discount is applied automatically.
Please note: Only assistance dogs are permitted at the House & Gardens. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult in the grounds. Bowood House & Gardens will continue to operate as a cash free site. Complimentary car parking within Bowood House & Gardens car park.
