Calling all home educating families!

In 2026, Bowood House & Gardens is delighted to introduce five dedicated Home Educator Days, offering a blend of fun, freedom and flexible learning in our beautiful historic setting.

Three themed learning days
Join us in April (History), July (Art) and September (Seasonal Change) for our new seasonal Home Education Days. 

Families are welcome to simply enjoy Bowood at their own pace or take part in optional, bookable themed sessions held in the House, Walled Garden and Arboretum. Two timetabled sessions are available each day for those wanting a more structured learning experience. Each session lasts around an hour and a half, leaving you free to explore, learn and play for the rest of the day. These small group activities are included with no extra cost but must be booked in advance and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Two ‘Creating Connections’ days
In May and October, enjoy slower-paced days with the freedom to explore independently and the chance to spend time with other home educating families. Begin with an (optional) craft in the Gardeners' Bothy, then enjoy Bowood however you wish; learning, relaxing, exploring or socialising.

Curiosity starts here
The opportunities are endless! Use the lake, caves and grotto as inspiration for creative writing, observe bees and butterflies in the meadows, sketch in the gardens or simply curl up with a book under a tree. Whether you come for self-directed learning or a day of pure fun, the choice is entirely yours. - Tuesday 22nd Sept 2026 -  Seasonal Change (morning & afternoon sessions available)
- Monday 19th Oct 2026 -  Creating Connections (craft session)

Times:
- Bowood House & Gardens opens from 10.30 – 17.30, last admissions 16:30
- Morning session 11.00 – 12.30
- Afternoon session 13.30 – 15.00

Price:

No Session:
- Home Education adult (17+): £5.00
- Home Education child (2-16yrs): £5.00
- Price includes a day ticket into Bowood House & Gardens.
- Optional sessions must be booked in advance and prices as below. 

Morning Sessions: 11.00 – 12.30
- Home Education adult: £6.00
- Home Education child: £6.00
- Season Ticket Holder adult: £1.00
- Season Ticket Holder child: £1.00

Afternoon Sessions: 13.30 – 15.00
