Head Gardener Tour
On a few selected dates throughout the season, Bowood’s Head Gardener provides a guided tour of the stunning gardens, including exclusive access to the Walled Garden prior to public opening.
Arriving at 10:00, you will be greeted and introduced to our Head Gardener, David Glass who will take you on a 90-minute guided tour of the terrace garden and Walled Garden. David will provide you with detailed information on the history of the gardens and advise you on how his team care for the gardens throughout the year.
You will be issued with a 10% discount card, which you can redeem in the Treehouse Café and the Stables (weekends & school holidays only) during your visit (including lunches or refreshments).

- Thursday 22nd May
- Thursday 26th June
- Thursday 10th July
Timings for the tour:
10:00 Arrive at Admissions. (The Treehouse Café will be open for refreshments)
10:30 Tour commences
12:00 Tour concludes
Following the tour visitors can continue with self-guided access of the House, Gardens and Pleasure Grounds (including the Arboretum, Doric Temple, Cascade and Hermits Cave).
Access to the Walled Garden is available to all visitors from 12:00 - 16:30.
Bowood House & Gardens closes at 17:30. Last entry into Bowood House and the Terrace Gift Shop is 16:00.
Max. 15 places per tour
Tours do not include any catering, however you will be issued with a 10% catering discount card.
2025 Season Ticket Holders receive 10% off our Garden Tours, please email houseandgardens@bowood.org with your name and Season Ticket reference number to receive the code.
These tours require around 90 minutes of walking with limited seating. The paths around the House and Grounds are gravel therefore wheelchairs and pushchairs may find it difficult, there is also steps leading down onto the lower terrace garden.
Please note this is non refundable and non changeable.
Bowood reserves the right to, at its absolute discretion, cancel workshops/courses/events/tours up to 7 days prior to the event if booking numbers do not reach a minimum level. In the event of such cancellations Bowood will offer customers the option to swap to another date in the same year (if spaces are available), or offer a full refund. For the avoidance of doubt, Bowood bears no liability for and would not refund any other indirect costs incurred by the customer, such as travel costs or accommodation.
